UI Master Gardener Series, Winter 2017, Bonners Ferry, ID
Jan. 17 – March 30, Tuesday and Thursdays, 1:00 pm-4:00 pm
This 60-hour course offers instruction from guest lecturers from the University of Idaho and local professionals on topics including:
- Fruit and vegetable culture, including orchard and small fruit production in Boundary County
- Lawn and tree care
- Insect, plant disease, and weed identification and control
- Pesticide safety
- Organic gardening
- Soil and water management
- Plant propagation
- Composting
- Diagnosing plant problems
There is a $125.00 fee charged for this 60-hour training program. This fee helps cover supplies, the MG Handbook, other reference materials, and travel expenses for guest speakers. Beginning gardeners are welcome. Persons must be interested not only in improving their own skills and knowledge but also in sharing their knowledge with others. Certified Master Gardeners are those who have taken the course plus provided volunteer service to the community. Course instruction is followed by several tours later in the summer.
